A Stoke-on-Trent armed forces and blue light 'brew club' has recently expanded to a second location, allowing the group to offer support to more members of the community.

Squared Away is a brew and wellbeing club founded by Army veteran Connor Postles with the support of the original location, Base Body Fitness in Park Hall.

The group has now opened a second location at the John Marston pub in Blurton, with the brew clubs hosted between the two venues on alternate Sundays from 11am to 12.30pm.

Connor, who works in veterans' healthcare, said: "This is a group I'm incredibly proud of, and being able to establish and run it has been a real honour.

"Opening a second venue is a huge step forward, and I hope that, with continued support, we can keep growing and potentially establish further locations in the future."

Squared Away aims to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for serving and former armed forces personnel as well as blue light staff.

Attendees are invited to build friendships, share experiences and access wellbeing support and signposting.

The group works in partnership with Tri Service & Veterans Support Centre to help ensure people know what support is available to them.

Connor previously told Nub News: "There's not a great deal of veteran support in the city.

"There's some good stuff nationally and regionally, but people don't always know how to access that.

"I wanted to create a low-key support group for veterans that are isolated, like I was when I first got out of the army."

Another brew club founded by Connor, The Empowerment Circle, will be moving to fortnightly sessions.

This group aims to provide women with a warm, safe and judgement-free space to connect with others as well as access information and support.

The Empowerment Circle takes place at Base Body Fitness with the support of the gym's owners John and Abel, and Angie who helps to manage the group.

The groups are open to everyone, including non-gym members.
