A third of the homes for sale on the former JCB factory in Cheadle have now been sold, as Bellway's Cecilly Mills development reaches its two-year milestone.

The former Cecilly Mills JCB factory, which closed in 2016, has been turned into a new residential neighbourhood off Oakamoor Road.

Bellway started building on the nine-and-a-half-acre site in December 2020 and built 120 new properties on the land.

36 private homes have now been sold.

Marie Richards, Sales Director for Bellway West Midlands, said: "This is a true transformation of the land as it is being turned from a brownfield site into a wonderful place to live. We are glad to maintain the name of Cecilly Mills, which was attached to the site during its JCB years and before that when it was a textile mill.

"People are finding Cecilly Mills a very attractive development as this is a much sought-after area and there are a range of homes available to suit different requirements.

"And people are also interested in the development because it is near to amenities and other towns. It is a five-minute walk to Cheadle town centre and around 20 minutes' drive to Stoke-on-Trent."

An eight-metre buffer zone has been created along Cecilly Brook with new planting and measures to encourage biodiversity and already ducks and trout have been spotted there.
