Role: Transport PlannerLocation: Stoke - On - TrentSalary: 36000 ( 102 per On Call)

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday (Days) (Between 06:00 & 18:00)

40 hours per week - must be worked flexibly between 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday to meet the business needs and to fit in with other planners hours.

As a Transport Planner, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring the efficient movement of goods across the UK. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the daily routing of vehicles to maximise efficiency and minimise costs. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that deliveries are completed on time, customers are satisfied, and our fleet operates smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Planning & Scheduling: Develop and implement efficient transport plans to meet customer delivery requirements. You'll ensure that all routes are optimised for time and cost-effectiveness.
  • Driver Coordination: Communicate with drivers throughout the day to manage schedules, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary in response to traffic, delays, or customer changes.
  • Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their requirements are met and any issues are resolved quickly and professionally.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all transport activities adhere to legal regulations, company policies, and health & safety standards. This includes maintaining accurate records of vehicle maintenance, driver hours, and any incidents.
  • Problem Solving: Quickly respond to operational issues, such as route delays, vehicle breakdowns, or changes in customer demand, with solutions that keep the business moving.
  • Cost Control: Continually assess transport routes and performance to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.

Key Experiences;

  • Proven Experience: You will have previous experience working in a Transport Planner role within a Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain environment.
  • Geographical Knowledge: You'll need strong knowledge of the UK road network, particularly around The Midlands and the surrounding areas, to make smart routing decisions.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The ability to manage multiple stakeholders - from drivers to customers - with clear and effective communication.
  • Attention to Detail: You'll be someone who doesn't miss a thing, ensuring that every aspect of the transport process is carefully managed.
  • Tech-Savvy: Experience using transport planning software and systems will be highly advantageous.
  • Live within a commutable distance of Stoke-On-Trent.

PAYE rate for the role of HGV Class 2 drivers are as follows: - Weekday - 16.00 per hour Must have 2 Years Experience This is a full time regular ongoing work on nights or days with various start times across 7 days a week. Flexibility to work regular weekends would be required. We are looking for experienced HGV drivers to join our elite driving team. If you have a full Class 1 licence and have experience in driving an HGV vehicle - you could be just the person for the job. Your Time at Work As a Class 2 HGV Driver, the work will involve depot delivery work, ensuring the safe and legal operation of your vehicle at all times. You will be making radial deliveries to stores with some trips to the out bases in Avonmouth, Mossend and Leighton Buzzard. You will be required to maintain regular contact with your base location, feeding back any issues that may arise. In return for your commitment we can offer regular shifts and start times that suit you. We have other sites locally that work will be available at if for any reasons shifts are not available.
